Dervin: Tale of 5 Clans

Dervin The Tale of 5 clans is a new offering from ARC Inc. This political LARP’s focus is on a low magic setting based off of the trials and tribulations of a small country inspired by Viking culture (set roughly 800 to 1100 AD).

The game itself will be a high intensity big stakes political games where you are put in the shoes of Jarl, Bannerman, Court Druid or Spy Master amidst a pivotal moment of Dervin’s history. How will you shape your country as it goes through its most turbulent times as the small island nation is seemingly discovered by the rest of the world?

Each session focuses on a meeting of the 5 clans called a Moot in which problems will be discussed and dealt with. From there you can used your downtime to allocate resources to deal with said problems. There will also be the opportunity to fight or duel using foam swords in order to settle disputes.

This world has magic, but it is strange, esoteric and not wide spread. Years of practice are required to unlock the powers over magic and the effects are very limited. The biggest focus will be ritual magic in which players are encouraged to create large spectacles.
