LARP Gear

LARP Weapons & Costume Stores
Live Action Roleplay (LARP) brings fantasy, history, and storytelling to life—and nothing breaks immersion faster than an unsafe or unrealistic weapon. Whether you’re engaging in intense battles or theatrical duels, quality LARP weapons need to strike the right balance between appearance, function, and safety.

All personally constructed LARP weapons must be approved by the committee before they can be used. Otherwise, purchase trusted brands made of safe foam with a solid fibreglass core.

Specific games may have size requirements or limitations for certain classes, skills or abilities. Refer to the rulebook from the game of choice or contact us first before purchasing a LARP weapon you would like to use at a game.

Costumes

A good LARP costume is about bringing your character to life and helping the world around you feel real. Costumes help people understand the kind of person you are and add to the immersion of a game.

We understand that it can take time to build a costume layer-by-layer, especially when you are just starting out with LARP. You can make your costume cooler and more interested by starting with a base layer (i.e. top and bottom or dress), then add textured elements (i.e. vests, cloaks, aprons), and then accessorise (i.e. jewellery, scarves, hats, hoods, gloves). It can also be very handy to give your character some kind of container to carry things in (i.e. pouches, bags, satchels, sheathes and holsters).

When playing in a modern or post-apocalyptic game, you can often find some impressive fines in second hand stores that will give your character the perfect look. You can distress clothing to give it that post-apocalyptic feel with stains, holes spray paint spatter while it lays wrinkled on the floor, or leaving just leaving it wrinkled up in the sun so parts are sun bleached with the time.

And don’t forget that you can often snag amazing finds in local stores and repurposeable clothing in second hand stores!

What are LARP-safe weapons?

Archery: Your bow must have a draw weight of 28lbs or lower and you must use IDV foam-tipped arrows. Please note that not all games allow archery as it’s best in games with clear line of sight and reasonable distances between combatants. Armour: In live combat games, armour should not have sharp points or excessively rough surfaces (to protect LARP weapons), have no loose metal burrs, have little ability to accidentally catch a finger between metal plates and all spikes must be made of foam or equally soft materials.

Band Guns: Band guns and band wands may be used in games that have approved their use.  Band missiles must be constructed of rubber tubing rings, have no sharp or hard materials and must, when relaxed, be at least 1/3 the length between the trigger catch and the front anchor point.

Foam Dart Blasters: Foam Dart Blasters, such as NERF guns, may be modified for increased speed and accuracy but must not exceed 130fps unless otherwise specified. Unmodified foam dart blasters will automatically fire under 130fps. You must use soft-tipped NERF darts – no sucker darts, hard tips or sharpened tips.
