Hosting a LARP within a LARP world

From Caduti to London Falling.

In October 2022, just 8 months into the first season of Caduti di Napoli, I decided I wanted to run a ‘weekender’ event set in the universe I had created. This started with an idea my husband had; that it would be the gathering of Princes [leaders of vampiric groups] across Europe on a yacht in the middle of the ocean.

Admittedly it didn’t take me long to take that idea, run with it, and shake off the things I felt didn’t make sense [which he was none too pleased with, let me tell you.] and before long I was submitting a game request for this event that I hoped would introduce some interstate players, and give my current players a new perspective on the world.

What I didn’t expect was the sheer difference in the amount of planning for what was now a 12 hour game compared to my regular 4 hour monthly game, and the things I’d have to do to make it beginner friendly.

Caduti: Sofia’s July 2023 Perspective

Sofia is a scholar from the Ordo Dracul faction who was reaching her 100th death day and had arranged to have her day hosted at another vampire’s nightclub prior to its big opening. She had decorated the room accordingly with a huge collection of books. When the session began, Sofia stood by the door while Persephone greeted everyone who entered by name and Sofia shook their hands while they gave their congratulations on her reaching a century.

Yet, amid the chatter and merriment, a tempestuous turn soon arrived. Prince Paige swept into the scene, a commanding figure of authority. Prince Paige came in and threatened the Strix (evil vampiric spirit) to vacate the vampire Raven as it had apparently offered to do in the past if asked. The Strix refused and the air grew tense as the Lancea Sanctum called upon incantations, unleashing an exorcism upon the dread being. I watched multiple brethren Dominated to stand against their own allies and the battle grew all the more complex.

Caduti: Clarisse’s November 2023 Perspective

In November’s session of Caduti di Napoli, a Vampire: The Requiem game held at the 1st Salisbury Scout Hall in Salisbury, the Vampires of Naples were shaken with internal conflict between a Carthian defector to the Invictus and the rest of the Movement. Complete with arson against both a nightclub and a number of vehicles in the car park and a speedy escape, here is the Carthian Prefect of Naples (Founder and Creative Director of Château Maison) Mademoiselle Clarisse de Lamont’s version of events…

I wish I could say the night went well. That all my hard work was not in vain and everything went off without a hitch and now I’m kicking back before escorting Marquis Henry back to London for the Conclave. But that’s not how the night went down. To tell you the truth it feels like last night was something out of a nightmare.

Caduti: Nala’s June 2023 Perspective

In June’s session of Caduti di Napoli, a Vampire: The Requiem game held at the 1st Salisbury Scout Hall in Salisbury, the Vampires of Naples were faced with their past being thrown in their face by the mysterious manager of The Establishment Hotel. Dearest Diary,

There are certain things that will either excite or devastate another kindred, everything is all about perspective. The way that things are conveyed, communicated and pushed forward will change the way that those around you decide to react to revelations beyond their comprehension.

I fear for those who follow a false reality, chasing after those who do not wish to open their minds to the possibilities that things might not be what they seem. Closing themselves off to different possibilities all for their continued vision of ‘freedom’. A freedom that restricts them from thinking their own way, leaders herding them like cattle.

Caduti: Paige’s May 2023 Perspective

In May’s session of Caduti di Napoli, a Vampire: The Requiem game held at the 1st Salisbury Scout Hall in Salisbury, where people move between rooms that represent various locations, the Vampires of Naples decided to finally attempt to deal with the Hunters in their city, and were faced with the return of a friend who seemed out of sorts. Here is the Prince of Naples – Paige Ni’Rose’s version of events…

Well, this turned out to be one hell of a shitstorm, but we ended up succeeding in the long run. The Mayor’s family was rescued from the hunters, but oh my gods. Being the Director of the city and sending people to fight a fight for me like that, it was nerve racking. I had no idea what was going on and had to wait for people to trickle in and find out one piece of information at a time, even if it was just “yeah sorry I got no idea.”

Caduti Session Summaries

Caduti di Napoli, a Vampire: The Requiem parlour LARP set in Naples, Italy has been ongoing since March of 2022. In that time the vampires of the city have stopped a supervolcano from erupting, encountered ancient enemies, and are now finding just how much trouble they are looking to be in as time goes on.

This monthly LARP, held at the 1st Salisbury Scout Hall, involves players moving between rooms that represent different locations each game. These locations can range from different rooms in the same building, decorated accordingly, to different locations around the city.

This series of articles will outline some of the varying adventures the vampires of Naples go on as time passes; the good and the bad.

Hear from the Prince of the city, who has to uphold peace despite warring factions, or from the Crusader who hunts the shadowy enemies of the vampires. Each of the characters has a unique voice and perspective of events, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
