In May’s session of Caduti di Napoli, a Vampire: The Requiem game held at the 1st Salisbury Scout Hall in Salisbury, where people move between rooms that represent various locations, the Vampires of Naples decided to finally attempt to deal with the Hunters in their city, and were faced with the return of a friend who seemed out of sorts. Here is the Prince of Naples – Paige Ni’Rose’s version of events…
Well, this turned out to be one hell of a shitstorm, but we ended up succeeding in the long run. The Mayor’s family was rescued from the hunters, but oh my gods. Being the Director of the city and sending people to fight a fight for me like that, it was nerve racking. I had no idea what was going on and had to wait for people to trickle in and find out one piece of information at a time, even if it was just “yeah sorry I got no idea.”
On top of that, Marko has clearly lost his fuckin’ marbles, and I’m worried about him. He was tortured in Rome by the Lancea et Sanctum, and that has me concerned. He claims they were after his CCTV system but there were better and more efficient ways to get that out of him. I’m going to keep an eye on him before I go to London… Hell, I’m going to ask him to come with me.
There was also a Trial of an Ordo Dracul by the name of Anais, who tortured Kine (humans) and broke the masquerade by feeding and living openly amongst them. That was a huge mistake, but they weren’t alone, which we discovered during the Trial. They were coterie mates with 4 Carthians – Members of the Commonwealth. And that’s where the problems began, they decided to hold an entire town hostage for their experiment.
Anais was studying the member of the community who would later become the Colonel of New Centurion (the hunter group), and our whole society was fucked by this. For some fucking reason, people kept trying to defend her and question why Carthians weren’t also on trial. The answer to that is simple, they were in the care of the Hunters, we didn’t have them to put them on trial.
I also had a private meeting with the Colonel for a hostage exchange, and oh boi. First he had me meet him out on some god be damned pier, and I should have looked to see if the BMW could fit down there before attempting to drive down it, but I didn’t and made a mistake. It’s only cosmetic damage. And a few busted panels, but it’s still serviceable, but it does need repair. The colonel had me go out there, because they suspected we had some way of concealing our movements through the CCTV, and they seemed confident that they got the information they wanted. They then had me meet them at a place that was 5 minutes walk away to pick up one of my fellow topored Carthians (torpor means they are effectively in a coma, either from a stake or a beat down).
So here I was, walking the city street with this guy bound in zip ties that I pulled from my boot. We get to another near dead end, and first thing I thought was holy fuck they are actually going to be stupid enough to try and capture me and take me to the raid that was running simultaneously as this meeting. Dude seemed angry, and you could tell he didn’t like dealing with what he considers to be a monster, and not worth anything. Yet here I was with one of his people captured. I could tell he had more than a few people with him in his van… probably a good 5 to 10 of them. I would have been severely outmatched if they had tried something. Although I do have a reputation with them for having killed most of the Hunters, I guess. The count is at 5 or 7 now, I forget, but it was in 1 vs 5 combat last time, and I walked away without a scratch.
Anyways, after a less than cordial meeting, he decided to honour his half of the deal, as I honoured mine. We swapped prisoners. His version was by dumping my fellow Carthian into the ocean. Thankfully I was able to run there very quickly thanks to one of the Devotions I have been training. First thing I did was run into the water and pull them out, they hadn’t gotten too far under by the time I got to them. Then when they were on shore I searched them in case they had been rigged with a bomb or a grenade. When I was satisfied they hadn’t been, I hoisted them over my shoulder and carried them like a princess, or someone who had drunk way too much… since I had to walk on the street with open traffic. I then dumped them in the boot of the car, where Persphone was waiting.
Overall, the Hunter threat should be almost dealt with, but only time will tell how they are going to respond to the raid, and what comes after. I hope they aren’t prepared to get nailed to the wall…
